WeChef Owner and Executive Chef John Prom was born in Cambodia and raised in Denver, Colorado since the age of 2. A few short years after arriving in the United States, John’s family opened their first of eight restaurants in Mitchell, South Dakota. Being the youngest of six in his family, John grew up in the restaurant environment most of his life. John started helping out in the kitchen at a very young age, working his way up from a fry cook, to a line cook, to the head chef. After graduating high school, John attended the University of Wyoming where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management while working at the University’s Catering Department, as well as a number of local restaurants, diversifying and honing his skills. Shortly after graduating, John took a job in Tulsa, Oklahoma running the catering department for the state’s largest coffee and vending company. However, Oklahoma was never ‘home’ for John. After eight years, John and his family moved back to Denver, the city that had welcomed him to this great country as a young child and he struck out on his own with WeChef Kitchen. John now proudly uses the skills he garnered from his family’s extensive culinary background and the experiences he collected on his own to create a catering and food truck business that can tackle whatever culinary venture you desire. John is well versed in Asian Cuisine, but can cook any type of food for just about any amount of people. And he serves up his delicious Asian Fusion fare across the Front Range on a daily basis (while he’s not catering of course!).
